Are you wondering if the hype about Takl is for real? Can, you really make some cash here?
Short answer – yes!
First, What is Takl?
The Takl app, pronounced tackle, is an instant home services’ app that connects Customers who need jobs done with Providers who are willing and ready to get the tasks done as soon as possible.
Before now, getting someone who can help with little tasks in the home was arduous and almost impossible. Today, you can get a handyman to do home repair services without leaving the comfort of your home. That is what apps like Takl do. When you 1st open the Takl App for iphone or Android there will be a link on the bottom to sign up as a provider.
Getting Started with Takl
Takl is very similar to its number one competitor TaskRabbit. Customers post job offers on the job listing page and Providers pitch their skills to the customers and wait to be contacted. It is very simple.
For Providers, Takl is a platform where you can easily pick up jobs to fill your schedule. Say, you are a mover and currently have nothing much on your tab, you could log in to Takl and check out some job offers on Moving. You are in total control of who you work with and when you work. So, instead of sitting around, waiting for the next client to call, you could pick up a few jobs at Takl.
However, there are a few things you need to know as you get started with Takl.
1. Takl’s Requirement
Takl is a bit more lenient with its requirements compared to other platforms in its category. For example, movers do not have to worry about vehicle requirements made mandatory in other platforms. That said, there are some prerequisites you must meet to become an approved Provider on Takl.
For starters, you must be 18 years of age. Minors are not allowed to perform gigs at Takl. Also, you must submit an ID issued by the US government. Another important requirement is the background check. To be approved on Takl, you must pass a background check. Should your result show a felony, drug-related offense, sexual offense, property damage, or theft, Takl will most likely refuse your application. A bank account and of course, a smartphone is also required.
2. Online Orientation
Takl organizes an online orientation course for every new member. The orientation consists of a series of articles and videos, crafted to teach new providers how to use the app, how to deal with common situations in the platform, and what to expect from the job.
3. Takl’s Fees
Okay before you get started, it is critical you know about Takl’s fees. Besides the monthly access fee of $2.99, Takl takes up to 30% of the amount earned from each job. Depending on the nature of the job though. It could be as low as 10% or as high as 30%. So, you are left with 70 – 90% at the end of the day. Quite huge, huh? Well, that shouldn’t scare you away. Instead, use it as a bargaining chip. Lastly on the fees, it is crucial to mention that the monthly access fee will be deducted directly from your linked bank account whether you get a job that month or not. Nothing good ever comes free. Compared to companies like Home Advisor, which charges you a set amount per lead (whether you get the job or not) paying 30% to Takl is not that bad and you just make sure you account for it in your quote.
4. Jobs Offered
Upon registration, every Provider is allowed to select his/her skills from 12 distinct categories. The categories range from Handyman to Automotive work, and everything in between. You even get to Build-a-Job. That is to design your own work. Rest assured there is something for everyone. However, be sure to clearly state your skills so that customers can easily see what you have to offer. Please note professional services’ or services’ that require permits are not allowed on Takl. Do not expect to offer services’ like childcare, medical work, or accounting on Takl. Illegal works are also not allowed on the platform.
5. Insurance
Takl does not provide insurance for its Providers. The Provider takes full responsibility for any damages caused in the line of work.
Now you are approved, let’s get you started!
1. The App
The app is pretty easy to use. As an approved Provider, you are allowed uninterrupted access to the Provider section of the app, where you can view available jobs, pitch offers, view upcoming jobs, and adjust your settings too. Anyone who can operate basic apps shouldn’t have any trouble.
2. Landing Jobs
The platform is still finding its place in the industry and is growing steadily. There are two types of jobs on Takl – Now jobs and Scheduled jobs. Now jobs, like the name implies, are urgent jobs that must be completed that same day. Obviously, scheduled jobs can be scheduled at a later date (no more than 30 days). Details of each job are listed on the job listing board. The required skills, job size, location, tools needed, etc. Simply click on a job, read the details, and submit an offer, if interested. Then, sit back and wait to be contacted. If accepted for the job, you can contact the customer through the app and schedule a time to start the job. Providers can also call a customer 2 hours before the scheduled time.
3. At the Job Site
Providers are expected to verify the job once they get to the job site. If the job is not as stated in the description, you can choose to increase the proposal, however, the customer must accept this new modification before job commencement.
4. After the Job
Upon completion of the task, Takl requires every Provider to upload photographs of the completed work. Be sure to adhere to these little instructions. You don’t want delay your payment wanting in any way.
5. Ratings
Takl doesn’t ascertain the credentials or experience of its Providers. Instead, customers are left to make informed decisions from the rating of a Provider. Ratings from past jobs show whether the Provider is proficient in the skills or not. You are the judge. Providers are also given the opportunity to check a Customer’s rating on the job listing board as well.
Essential Notes
Although Takl isn’t stringent in job cancellation like other apps, there are some critical conditions you must avoid to remain on the platform. First, you are not allowed to cancel a Now job less than 24 hours before the scheduled time. Also, you must not cancel up to two scheduled jobs within a 30-day period.
Another factor that could lead to account deactivation is employing the assistance of unapproved Takl Providers, Takl isn’t against you seeking help for large tasks, however, you should seek help within the community, not outside.
Best Fit?
Takl is good for anyone looking to earn cash from their home services’ skills. However, it is best for independent contractors who are looking to fill in gaps in their schedules or replace canceled jobs. Takl is also a great way to bolster the growth of your business as an independent contractor. Independent contractors like Handymen and landscapers can leverage the existing customer base at Takl to grow their businesses outside the platform. Of course, it would start off with picking a few odd jobs, but in no time, you will have a contact list and hopefully referrals from those customers as well.
It is all up to you. You could use Takl as a side job or a full-time business. The platform has been created. The choice is yours whether this is a good fit for you. Signup for Takl Here.
